Titans Betting Odds Improve After Adding Jones
The Tennessee Titans emerged as betting favorites to land Julio Jones from Atlanta, and that was exactly what took place.
Tennessee will now have Jones at their disposal for what they hope will be a long playoff run
Sportsbooks in Tennessee saw big numbers on bets pouring in for the Titans in 2020, and that should be the case again this season. By acquiring Jones, the Titans have now emerged as betting favorites to win the AFC South.
Tennessee opened up at +150 to win the AFC South Division, and the Indianapolis Colts were the favorites at +110. Since the trade, the Titans have had their odds slashed to +110 as well and are even lower at some sportsbooks in Tennessee.
The Colts and Titans are clearly the two best teams in the division, and Jacksonville and Houston shouldn’t factor into the race. The Jaguars have odds set at +700, and the Texans are being offered at +2800.
Tennessee advanced all the way to the AFC Championship two seasons ago, and a number of the key pieces are still in place. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill continues to put up solid numbers for the Titans, and running back Derrick Henry is one of the best in the league.
The odds for the Titans to win the AFC and Super Bowl have also been slashed following the trade, but they are still considered relative longshots to accomplish either of those feats.
Sportsbooks in Tennessee had the Titans at +4000 to win the Super Bowl prior to landing Jones, but they are now sitting at +2800. The Titans were +2000 to win the AFC Championship when the odds were first set, but they are now offered at +1100.
Now is a great time to make one of these future wagers on the Titans, with FanDuel giving the best odds early on, but it is also a great time to look at prop betting options. Several sportsbooks in Tennessee have launched a number of prop markets specifically focusing on Jones and his new role with the Titans.
Vanderbilt, Volunteers Ready to Make Noise at CWS
The Tennessee sports betting market also includes betting on in-state college teams, and that might help the sportsbooks this month. Most college betting is done on college basketball and football games, but the focus will be on baseball for the next few days.
The Tennessee Volunteers and the Vanderbilt Commodores have both advanced to the College World Series, giving sportsbooks plenty of options this week. A final matchup between the two schools would be a dream matchup for sportsbooks in the state.
Vanderbilt is the betting favorite to win the CWS at +280, and they have yet to lose a game so far this postseason. The odds for Tennessee to win the College World Series is +350, making them the third biggest favorite to win it all.
The University of Texas is right in the middle of the two teams from Tennessee, and that program continues to produce winning teams. The College World Series takes place in Omaha, Nebraska, but it will be a huge event for sportsbooks in the Volunteer State.
