OpenSports Coming to Tennessee
The FanDuel Sportsbook app in Tennessee is set to get an upgrade, and it should be a great experience for sports bettors in the Volunteer State.
This will come after Flutter Entertainment and Scientific Games are taking the next step in their partnership.
These two companies have been partners for the last two decades, and this partnership has helped to push the industry through innovative new technologies. OpenSports is the name of the new platform that has been produced, and it will launch in Michigan and Tennessee.
Both of these markets were chosen as they have shown tremendous growth over the last six months. Both states have set records for quickest to one $1 billion in the online betting handle, and OpenSports should push the growth even more.
OpenSports was developed by Scientific Games, a company that is known to be a leader in sports betting technology. This new platform guarantees a terrific sports betting experience for the most anticipated sporting events from around the world.
When this new product was tested in the UK, it was able to process 115,000 bets per minute without delay. This will help boost the online handle as customers won’t see any delays when attempting to make a bet.
Colorado and West Virginia were the first states to launch the OpenSports platform, and that happened in December 2020. After ensuring that everything was working correctly, OpenSports launched in both Illinois and Indiana in April 2021.
FanDuel sportsbook app is one of the market leaders in the state of Tennessee, and it has always benefitted from its association with Flutter Entertainment and Scientific Games. The launch of OpenSports does not have an official target date, but it will be available at some point in 2021.
Tennessee Lottery Setting New Records
Not only is the sports betting industry setting new records in Tennessee, but the Tennessee Education Lottery is posting big numbers as well. The TEL announced that lottery sales generated over $2 billion in revenue for the first time in one single fiscal year.
This new record was set on June 15, and the final total will be announced after all of the ticket sales are calculated through June 30. Instant game sales led to the record-setting year, but all of the lottery games did well over the past year.
During the second quarter of the fiscal year, instant game sales totaled more than $400 million in revenue, and the other quarters were solid as well. April 6 was the biggest single day on record in the state as instant game sales went over $10 million.
The Tennessee Education Lottery launched in 2004, and it has been extremely successful since that time. More than $6 billion has been raised for the education system in Tennessee, and there has been more than $24 billion in tickets sold.
The TEL was also responsible for getting sports betting off the ground in the state, but it will no longer be the top governing body, beginning on January 1. The Sports Wagering Advisory Council will be taking over the job.
